Scripture Union is an interdenominational, faith-based organization, which works with young people and families. It is active in over 130 countries, beginning in England in 1867.
It came to Zimbabwe in 1945. Scripture Union aims to present children, young people and families with the claims of Jesus Christ and to help them apply Christian principles to all areas of life. As part of the Scripture Union working principles is the following statement: ‘We acknowledge that the gospel (Christian message) has inescapable social dimensions and therefore it involves us in service to others and a concern for social justice. In view of this we have a special responsibility for children and young people who are poor, deprived or exploited.’
